Astral Nomad – NOMAD-2 EP

Astral Nomad are a heavy psych/ stoner doom band from Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. They consist of Bartek Kowal on drums, Damian Chojnacki on vocals and guitars, Artur Olej on guitars, and Szymi Baran on bass. Their debut EP called NOMAD-1 was released in 2024 and contains three tracks. The band just released their second EP, aptly titled NOMAD-2 on August 20th 2025. It contains four tracks at thirty minutes long.

The album begins with a brief sample leading right into the rocking “Bliss And Blues”. It’s has a classic stoner/ desert rocking sound that delivers a great chugging drive of fuzz with great vocals. The song transitions midway through, as the bass leads into some excellent psychedelic mixtures with clean guitars and keyboards filling in the space. It plays out a bit and then kicks in with a heavy fuzz-driven doom riff. The song ends with some excellent cosmic guitar leads that fade out into completion. Astral Nomad showcases alluring dynamics right from the start, and exhibits the musical structure of seasoned veterans.

The next track called “Waterfalls” is another terrific song. It’s has a heavenly appeal that displays a softer touch than the opener. The clean guitars and melodious vocals are beautiful. The song has an expansive sound utilizing heavy psych, riff rock, and slices of prog, all combined. It really exhibits the talents of each band member and exemplifies a full spectrum of sound throughout.

“Voyager ” begins with airy tones and a child voice sample repeating “Hello from the children of planet Earth.” The synth background of cosmic reverberations sets the listener up for an enchanting sonic journey. The guitars soar from clean to fuzz with swirls of keys encapsulated around them. The music punctuates some stellar lead guitar work and is a mind altering experience of sorts. The spacey and instrumental flow of the rhythms and melodies are elegant and interesting, allowing the music to guide you through an auditory expedition.

The fourth and final composition on NOMAD-2 is the epic, “Witches Of The Dying Star”. It’s a ten and a half minute excursion of musical brilliance that goes from divine to diabolical, in a moment’s notice. The female vocals on this one are stunning and heavenly and adds an exquisite touch to the expansive track. The music layers in astral sounds of psychedelic and heavy doom. The song has some black metal-esc tortured vocals at the beginning which really adds diversity to the track. However, the soothing female singing is where it’s most vital with this one. As the final cut on the record, the song is a suitable choice for the album’s closure. It has an array mix of heavy and lush melodies that captivate the ears with monumental and extravagant sounds.

NOMAD-2 is an amazing record, just shy of being an LP. I was really taken aback with how much I enjoy this one. Astral Nomad is definitely a band on the rise and one to keep a look out for in the future. I can see this band doing more amazing things because this EP is exceptional.
