Caduta Massi – Echoes From The Old Crater EP

Caduta Massi are a stoner rock power trio from Rennes, France. They consist of Martin Vaudorne on guitar and vocals, Thomas David on drums, and Joackim Trublet on bass. Echoes from the Old Crater is the band’s debut EP and it was released on July 11th 2025. It contains four tracks at around twenty eight minutes long.

The first song “The Oldest View” plays out like a champion! It has all the key elements for a super killer stoner/ desert rock song. The track takes the listener on a sonic expedition through space and time. Caduta Massi are unbelievable in their tone and execution. They have a heavy but powerful vintage sound that is so appealing. The bluesy guitar leads and thick fuzzy rhythms are very satisfying. “Five Days” has a psychedelic blues and Sabbath tone drenched in fuzz. I really like this EP a lot. The authentic sound is such a delight and the scorching guitar siren leads are ear worming. The jams and build up effects with these four tracks are massive.

As one song ends, the next one begins. “Swallow The Sun” is another powerful rocker that crushes ahead with heaviness, grooves, and conviction. The bass and drum break is glorious, followed with the emotive blues guitar screams. This release sounds like a band that is extremely well put together, tight as nails, and one that has been playing together for years. Caduta Massi checks all of these boxes except the longevity component. The fourth and final cut called “Starry Night”, starts mellow with clean guitar and vocals. The song does pick up the distortion and heaviness and rocks beautifully like the other three tracks prior. Echoes from the Old Crater is an exceptional offering from a new band based out of France. This EP has a lot of great music packed in under thirty minutes and I can only imagine what a full length album will consist of.
