Electric Hydra – From The Fallen

Electric Hydra is a heavy rock band from Sweden. Active since 2017, they consist of Sanne Karlsson on vocals,Emil Andersson on guitar and vocals, Adi Selimic on guitar, Ellinor Andersson on bass, and Dennis Åhman on drums. The band has released two full length albums including their 2020 Self Titled debut and their latest sophomore, 2026’s From The Fallen. They also released various singles too. From The Fallen was released on February 13th 2026 on Majestic Mountain Records. It contains eleven tracks at thirty eight minutes long.

“Scent Of Blood” storms out of the gate with a hard rocking blitz of high octane rhythms. Electric Hydra has a punk rock fuel burning down the metal highway with their high energy riff rock. The five-piece has plenty of heavy groove in their songs, like on “Let The Chaos Unfold”. Sanne Karlsson’s voice is raging, angelic, and powerful. It sounds great with the unrelenting rock being carried out by the rest of the band. “Prayers Of Fire” is a scorching track that keeps the mid pacing flow of the riffs consistent and hard rocking.

The fourth track entitled “It’s All Just Dirt” slows down the tempo in favor of a heavy stomping groove. The vocal melodies are another big draw to these songs, accompanying the hard driving riffs and harmonies with a catchy essence of excellence. “When Destruction Calls” hits it hard in an old school metal kind of way. The hook-driven vocals are a blazing touch to this one. The fuzzy bass and drums begin “Contagious” in another hard rocking escapade. The scorching guitar leads are on fire with this one and Electric Hydra maneuver into some cool spoken words midway through also.

From The Fallen is a great album that took me a couple of listens to really appreciate. The band are tight and really deliver the rock n’ roll vibes in all of these eleven tracks. “A New Dawn” and “My Decay” are both solid tracks that express crunching rhythms and powerful leads. The vocals are as strong as ever and mix nicely with the heavy rocking music. The next track called “Riding The Haze” switches things up a little vocally. I believe the guitarist Emil Andersson handles the lead on this one and the chorus is countered with Karlsson singing along with him. It’s a nice change of sound as the riff blazing keeps burning steadily. The catchy vocals are still in full effect as the music continues to flow with hard rocking glory.

The next song “The Fallen” is another bouncy riff machine of hooks and melodies. The backing vocals and sing along chorus continues to capture my full attention with the final song, “A Sky Full Of Fading Stars” which closes out this terrific album. The pace is more chuggy than fast but the hooks and groove strikes you just as hard. It’s the longest track on the record at 4:45, whereas most of the songs settle in the two and a half to four minute range. Overall, this is an excellent record that should satisfy a lot of people into the heavy underground scene with an emphasis on hard driving rock with catchy vocal melodies.
