High Master – Road Man EP

High Master is a heavy rocking quartet from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. They consist of Chad Mason on guitar and vocals, David Melashenko on guitars, Brett Young on bass, and Kyle Lawrence on drums. Road Man is their debut EP, containing four tracks around fifteen minutes long. It was released on August 11th 2025.

High Master play hard driven riff rock that has a classic and catchy sound. It has a stoner and garage tone injected into them but anchors a more heavy rocking groove.“You’re A Liar” starts things off with a straight ahead heavy rock song with bluesy leads and good vocals. The track has a familiarity to it but doesn’t sound like a clone to any one artist. The band simply rock with the simplicity of AC/DC but with a more fuzzy and grittier sound. The catchiness of the song resonated with me immediately as I unconsciously began tapping my foot at the start of the EP.

“Even Though” begins with a guitar riff that charges into an almost boogie rock type of sound. The mid tempo rhythm is spiked with a high-octane punk beating that is purely infectious. The vocals have a little raspiness to them that works superbly well with the music. It’s a fun song that will surely want to make you move around. The title track “Road Man” has a rocking swagger happening. It’s a stripped down number that makes the head bob back and forth with the rhythmic pummeling. The bluesy guitar leads executed with the accents breathe new life into their classic style sound.

The final track on this recording is called “Don’t Know Why”. It’s another great song that has hook-laden vocals and mid pacing grooves. High Master are not reinventing the wheel with their sound but they articulate it with raw anticipation and talent. If catchy and hard driven riff rock is your pleasure, then look no further than the Road Man EP. These four tracks are raging with energy and good times. There are no soft melodies or ballads on this bad boy, just invigorating hard rock that the pioneers from the early seventies have drafted. High Master are crafting songs that are made to cruise to, down the long and open road. With their foot firmly planted on the pedal, they deliver the nostalgia and vibes that make me salivate for more. It will be interesting to hear where their sound will morph into, moving forward. At any case, this is a great listen and start to a promising career.
