Honeybadger – Let There Be Light
Honeybadger is a stoner rock quartet from Athens, Greece. They released their debut, The Rain EP in 2017 and their first full length called Pleasure Delayer in 2020. The band just released their latest album, 2025’s Let There Be Light. The lineup consists of Dimitris Vardoulakis on vocals, rhythm, and lead guitars, Vagg Oikonomou on drums and percussion, Dimitris Giannakopoulos on lead guitar, and Fogg on bass. Let There Be Light was released on SODEH Records on October 19th and contains eight tracks around thirty two minutes long.
Honeybadger has an uptempo hard rocking sound with a progressive and melodic formation. “Before The Crash” opens the record with a solid rocker of catchy tones with deep and rich vocals. “Panic Button” strikes next, escalating the melodies with a Josh Homme croon to the voice. The music is bouncy and energetic like old Queens Of The Stone Age, with an angular approach. “Filth And Disorder” begins with a growling bass riff that kicks into a frenzy of rock. The catchy tune has an almost poppy vibe with a smooth gander of grunge.
The fourth track entitled “The Green” is a banger! It has an infectious melody that will get stuck in your head. The smooth vocals are hook-friendly combined with the groove dynamic music. Honeybadger has a very compelling and inviting sound that is easy to fall into. “Diamonds” hits you directly and turns up the volume on this rocking fury. The swing style percussion mixes nicely with the electrifying rhythms.
“The Joke Is On Me” is another groove-laden rocker that will get you moving. Striking leads, bellowing bass, and powerful drumming are joined with strong vocals, delivering a great hard rock ensemble. “Empty-Handed” is a slower paced burner that illuminates with melody and rhythm. These songs have a dark component that is established by the vocals. The harmonic haunting sound is felt. The title track “Let There Be Light” completes this eight song reckoning with horn sections and all. Honeybadger explores different sounds with this one, guest musicians Christos Spiliopoulos plays the trombone, and Nikos Tattoo Vlachos, the trumpet. The section works perfectly with the song and augments the already excellent composition.
I am really digging Let There Be Light. The music is uptempo rock with fuzzy rhythms and fantastic drumming. However, the vocals are dark with a complex and melancholy feel. Together, they coalesce to create a very compelling and dynamic sonic experience. Honeybadger fits right in between 1000 Mods and Nightstalker as the premier Greek stoner rock artists.
