Oath – UNTEACH
Oath is a psychedelic doom metal band from Athens, Greece. Formed in 2021, The duo consist of Andreas Androulakakis on vocals and guitars, and Marios Manousakis on bass and drums. Oath released a three song EP in 2024 called Death Lurks Everywhere and various singles before and after. On February 13th 2026, Oath self released their debut full length album entitled UNTEACH. It contains seven tracks at forty one minutes long.
Oath has an unapologetic Sabbath worship to their sound of traditional doom metal. The heavy and fuzzy tones are brutal at times like on the opening track “Terrorcraft”. The raw and crunchy rhythms are proto-metal delights that sound so tasty. Bluesy leads and chunky riffs are joined with haunting high register vocals and very interesting music. The devastating riffs are met with melodies and classic occult themes. The band added a third member and recorded UNTEACH totally live in the studio. “My Second Life” is almost ten minutes long and it scores like a classic doom song. There are dark sludges of fuzz wrapped around these riffs and the whole song flows wonderfully along, and never loses its draw. It’s a very satisfying and captivating track that features some electrifying leads to further melt faces.
The third track is called “Alucarda 77” and it takes the occult approach to diabolical levels. The introduction is creepy and the song is a satanic wrecking machine. It’s got 1970’s classic rock charm spilled all over it and scorching guitar leads too. “Through The Evergreen Fields” is a short acoustic instrumental interlude that is dedicated to the memory of the late and great, Ozzy Osbourne.
The next track called “Fur, Claws, And Leather” is a great and catchy song! The savage Iomi riffs are viscous and uncompromising. The song is a battling ram of evil doom at its finest, with swirls of wah guitars and noise effects, drenched in fuzz. The next track, “Dies Capri” begins with clean guitars that channel in the heavy distortion and down tuned dirges. The music is more slow and prodding with a an eerie aura blanketed around it. The vocals are haunted as the music attempts to build up, but abruptly collapses in tempo at a sinister’s crawl. The music does pick up around the five minute mark and rocks out some nicely stoned-out arrangements of psychedelic grander.
The last track on UNTEACH is called “Child Of Vortex”. It has a mid paced start that hammers in the rhythms and transcends into a slower grounding. The heavy doom riffage is accompanied by great vocals and unrelenting guitar leads. The fuzz chugging tones are so dense and gruesome, really capitalizing on the massive Oath sound that has been the driving force throughout this excellent recording.
