Organic Destruction – Prophets Of Cthulhu
Organic Destruction hail from Hachenburg, Germany and play heavy stoner rock with fuzzed out riffs and melodies. The band has an unique sound that crosses into gothic metal territory, especially with the vocals. Ben, Marius & Patrick complete the line up of the band and their debut album called Return Of The Roo, was released back in December of 2023. They just released their latest sophomore album entitled Prophets Of Cthulhu on June 27th 2025. It contains eight tracks around thirty seven minutes long.
Organic Destruction has a very thick and dense sound to their blend of classic stoner doom and psychedelic blues rock. It all sounds so natural coming from a band like Organic Destruction with the thick walls of fuzz suffocating our labored breathing. The title track, “Prophets Of Cthulhu” sleeks its way in with a clean guitar beginning that elegantly coalesces with the rhythm section for rich and organic tones of heavy rock and melodic heavy metal. The track seamlessly drifts right into the second one, called “Supergroup”. It’s a fantastic display of the variety of heavy sounds that the band is creating. The music has a very loose and drifting allure with songs like “Dark Waters” and “Eternity Of Evil”. Organic Destruction really explores deeply into each song and rocks out a blistering array of heavy fuzz and hard driven metal. One of the album’s highlights, “Marching The Shores” is an excellent piece that showcases many of the talents of the group. The patiently slow beginning build up that cranks out the riff, is only the start of the amazing track. The vocals explore more gothic tones and display a great match with the swampy blues rock oozing out of the amps and drums.
The music has a hypnotizing cadence about it, with a song like “Bite Of The T” electrifying the sound waves. Every song has a gratifying place on Prophets Of Cthulhu, like the cool, flowing sound dazzling of “III MARK VIII”. The gliding grooves are magnificent! The band has a very relaxed but focused jam-style atmosphere embedded within each of these songs. The final track called “Droned & Confuzzed” further explores the band’s uniqueness and delves further into the goth rock textures of their music. I could definitely see this band becoming a favorite if time and nature would allow such a beautiful thing. They have a strong draw and connection that could easily suck you in, if you allow it. The laid back vibrancy to these tracks marked with the heavy ferocity of the riffs, equals a very pleasant and sonically uplifting experience. Organic Destruction has enough charm and originality to spark the interest of any fan of the heavy underground. I am certainly interested in this terrific power trio and you can add them to the growing list of high quality bands emerging from Germany, particularly in this quarter of the year.
