Supernaughty – Apocalypso
Supernaughty is a stoner metal band from Livorno, Italy. Formed in 2014, the quartet features Angelo Fagni on vocals and rhythm guitar, Filippo Del Bimbo on llead guitar, Alessio Franceschi on drums, and Luca Raffoni on bass. They have released three albums including: 2018’s Vol. 1, 2020’s Temple, and their latest, 2025’s Apocalypso. Apocalypso is the band’s first record on Ripple Music and it was released on August 22nd 2025. It contains eight tracks around thirty seven minutes long.
From the drum taps that erupt into the riff-centric cascade of “Poseidon”, Supernaughty are not messing around. Heavy layers of fuzz are what’s on the menu for this stoner rock delicacy. The vocals remind me of John Garcia from the Wretch era of Kyuss. The hard driving riffs and incessant grooves on this album are intoxicating. “Poseidon” is a great lead off track that gets Apocalypso moving in such a vital and exuberant manner. “Black Witch Mountain” rages next and delivers a walloping dose of heavy metal madness. The catchy vocal melodies are so fitting for the crunchy rhythms of this rocking audio assault. Backed with powerful guitar leads and strong song structures, the band are on a mission to melt faces.
The third track called “Amsterdamned” forges a beat down of metallic riffing and thunderous rhythms. It’s a little slower in pace than the prior two, but it bulldozes ahead with prodding resilience. “Weird Science” kicks in next and continues on with the onslaught of fuzzy riffage. Supernaughty incorporates some old school metal on this one and it’s fantastic! “Queen Of Babylon” begins with guitar and decorative cymbal and drum taps before punching into the main riff. It’s another great tune that flows nicely and sludges on in heavy prominence. The band transition into a softer pattern at the midpoint but explode back into the rocking fury.
The next track entitled “In (O) Culation” has a menacing tone and brandishes a crunchy texture with excellent guitar leads. Once again, Supernaughty harkens back into the classic metal realm of stoner rock. “King Again” storms next and gallops ahead in blazing fashion. The vocals are powerful and the crunch-laden riffs are dialed in and fully executed. The eighth and final cut is the title track, “Apocalypso”. It lashes right in with the riffalicious grooves and heavy amplified sounds of crushing fuzz. The vocals are dynamic and the overall production of this album is thick and massive. I am really enjoying this record a lot! The band are a powerhouse of head banging riffs and hook-driven vocals. Apocalypso is the first record that I have heard from them and I am excited to dive deeper into their other releases. The album plows through quickly and Supernaughty can out riff a lot of bands today. This is definitely an album that I will revisit frequently because Supernaughty craft some of the finest heavy rocking metal grooves being created today.
