Tumble – Lost In Light EP

Tumble is a three-piece band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They consist of Liam Deak on guitar and vocals, Tarun Dawar on bass, and Will Adams on drums and percussion. Their sound is a mix of hard rock, blues, psychedelic, and proto-metal. The band released a couple of singles, 2023’s Lady Cadaver (featuring two tracks), and 2024’s Earth Flight (Pentagram cover). Tumble just released a new five song, twenty minute EP entitled Lost In Light, on May 2nd 2025.

The first track is called “Laid By Fear”, and it’s a ripper! The progressive beginning build up strikes into a hard rocking eminence. It’s a solid track that constitutes a straight up classic rock vibe with the riffing, flourishing leads, and laid back vocal approach. The simple rhythm structure displays some cool drum fills and excellent harmonized vocals. Midway through, the band capitalize on some very cool percussive jamming right after the guitar lead. It has a prog rock twist to it and then returns back into the main rhythm.

The second track has a bluesy guitar dynamic to it with a seventies swagger. Entitled “The Less I Know”, it’s a fairly short, less than three minute rocker that hits all the right notes and inclinations. It’s a great song that carries a proto-metal sound throughout. “Dead By Rumor” is another fantastic tune that rocks with the best of them. The smooth vocal delivery from Liam Deak fits the song perfectly as the music flows with exciting leads and hard hitting drumming. A nice blues induced rocker that has that vintage aura without sounding outdated. The fourth cut, “Sullen Slaves” has a hammering drum beat rhythm frequented by great guitar riffs and melodies. The vocals are soothing yet powerful and match the music nicely. Once again, the guitar leads electrify the song with their blazing rhythms abound.

The fifth and final track is called “Wings Of Gold”. Another fabulous hard rocker that completes the EP with charm and finesse. The vocals sometimes remind me of Chris Kosnik (The Atomic Bitchwax) when he sang for the early 2000’s band, Black Nasa. Tumble is definitely a band on the rise and one to watch out for. Lost In Light articulates the finest in hard rock, despite its short runtime. It will be great to hear a full length release from the band. If they continue on with this trajectory then I can only imagine how exceptional it will be. This is definitely one hell of a start!
