White Noise Generator – Myriads
White Noise Generator is stoner/ prog rock band from Passau, Germany. The quartet features Martin Frank on vocals and synth, Vincent Vetter on guitars, Julian Dammann on bass, and Luke Taylor on drums. Their debut album entitled Dead Leaves was released in 2019, followed by 2021’s Breathing single. Their latest album, 2025’s Myriads was released on May 16th 2025. The music blends heavy riffage, floaty psychedelic passages, with progressive hard rock. Myriads contains four tracks around forty eight minutes long.
The title track “Myriads” opens with feedback that pummels into a hard rocking rhythm. Accentuated by guitar leads, the heavy psych tones are melted down into softer melodic music as the vocals enter. The riffs amp up into fuzzy stoner grooves and transition back into mellow passages. White Noise Generator master the craft of sonic resonance. Each of these four tracks takes the listener on an enchanted musical journey. “Myriads” flourishes into progressive territory and dances back into the more riff-centric tones throughout the twelve and a half minute opener. They display fantastic guitar leads with interesting riffs and melodies alike. They represent a thoughtful mix of music that flows efficiently.
“Maverick” features an exploratory build up of auditory brilliance. Laced with colorful leads and exquisite tones and melodies, the song has strong vocals driving the track along. The crunchy rhythms convey an exuberant feel along with textures of mind drifting synth sounds. The music drops into mellow grounds and erupts into heavy terrain in an effortless haze of harmony. White Noise Generator captures many different emotions with their gliding rhythms and melodies.
The third track entitled “Hold” begins with clean guitars and flowering tones that escalate upwards. The patient expansion of the music is a testament to the band’s commitment to crafting excellent songs. The vocals can drift between aggressive and melodic depending on where the music is taking you in the context of the song. “Hold” has a progressive grunge vibe happening and it works out quite nicely. The song is almost broken up into two parts when it reaches the eight minute mark. The airy synthesized touches are greeted with bass enhanced prog rock acrobatics, with intricate drumming and dynamic guitar lead arrangements.
The fourth and final track is called “One”. It’s another sonically inspired voyage into the musical realms of progressive heavy stoner psych. The fuzzy tones are met with both clean and aggressive vocals. The music bounces from distorted doom riffs to clean guitar harmonies in an instant. The band has a gift in keeping these songs interesting and flowing throughout the longer time spans. The tracks are detailed with the perfect blend of heavy fuzz riffing with provisional sounds and experimental leads and melodies. The songs extract a full range of progressive and psychedelic elements that make up a riveting and engaging listening experience.
