Ol’ Time Moonshine – Now I Bleed

Ol’ Time Moonshine is a heavy stoner/ groove metal/ doom/ sludge band from Toronto, Canada. The quartet consists of Bill Kole on guitar and vocals, Adam Saitti on drums, Jesse Mackowycz on bass, and Chris Coleiro on guitar. They have released 2013’s The Demon Haunted World, 2016’s The Apocalypse Trilogies, 2022’s Magic, and their latest, 2026’s Now I Bleed. Now I Bleed was released on June 12th 2026 on Black Throne Productions. It contains eight tracks at thirty one minutes long.

“Poison” begins Now I Bleed with a heavy sludge of catchy groove metal. The gritty vocals are expressed with some stop start rhythms and accented chords. Sweeping riffs of metal and whiskey throated singing, OlTime Moonshine is a heavy rocking party decorated with fuzzy riffs and powerful grooves. Once the opening riff to “Royal Queen” commences, the heavy and catchy tones take over. The raspy but melodic vocals are laid back on the verses and intensify when the chorus and main riff kick in. The band can deliver some killer guitar leads on these songs too. I love how the tempo of the song speeds up at the end and becomes a smashing machine, and continues to brutalize while sped up a bit. It’s sounds so killer and intoxicating.

The third track entitled “Possession” is another banger! The vocals are more aggressive throughout the track and the stomping rhythms are great with the “tough guy” style of hardcore patterning. The chugging metal rage is enhanced with the shouting  of “Rise! rise!” of chorus chants. The sludgy and thrashy rhythms really express the more heavy and dynamic side of the band. Even though most of these songs are heavy with intent, “Witches” is still massive but with more melody too. Ol’ Time Moonshine has a heavy and funky inclination on the next track, “Creeping Bad”. The bass and drums command the flow with the vocals in full effect. “She Moves” is a catchy number sparked by a rocking drive and densely composed riffs. The excellent bass and drum bridge flows nicely towards the end, capitalizing on the electrifying leads, while showcasing some fantastic psychedelic textures in the mix.

“Dancing On Your Grave” is another terrific song! There’s definitely a Crowbar and Corrosion Of Conformity vibe happening but the Canadian four piece has a pretty vast arrangement of influences, with their densely coarse sound. The last track called “Take Me Home” is a mellow opus of clean guitars and vocals. The song floats along with an unhurried and smooth approach, allowing the listener to catch their breath and just take it all in, musically speaking. Now I Bleed is a remarkable record that I wasn’t expecting to be so vital and impactful. Ol’ Time Moonshine has an eclectic blend of sounds for a powerful sonic cocktail and they are now definitely on my radar.
