Green Desert Water – Eerie Meadows

Green Desert Water is a stoner/ hard rock power trio from Asturias, Spain. The band consists of Kike Sanchís on guitar and vocals, Juan Arias García on bass, and Dani Bárcena on drums. They have released 2012’s Self Titled EP, 2018’s Solar Plexus, 2021’s Black Harvest, and their latest, 2026’s Eerie Meadows. Eerie Meadows was released on June 19th 2026 on Small Stone Records. It contains eight tracks at thirty seven minutes long.

Green Desert Water play an exceptional blend of classic seventies hard rock mixed with blues, southern rock, and heavy psych. The band states on their Bandcamp page: “With Eerie Meadows, we wanted to explore the duality between the heavy and the ethereal—the mist, the ancient woods, and that feeling of finding home in the wild ,” says the band. “Recording in a new studio was a challenge we set for ourselves to push our sound further; it’s a record about the cycles of life, the scars we carry, and the fire that burns even under the northern lights.”

“Northern Lights” has an elaborate and slow progression that hits hard and soulful in its climax. Sanchís has a powerful voice that is striking and emotive, and suits the music perfectly. Musically speaking, Green Desert Water is fantastic! The trio craft moving melodies of hard driving heavy rock. “The Blacksmith” has such a strong groove and rhythm with the bass and drums commanding the verses, as the guitars punctuate the structure. There’s a familiarity and catchy resonance with these songs, as Eerie Meadows is chock full of great riffs and enchanting melodies.

The title track has a heavy and slower doom crushing style with great vocals that really bleed through the mix. The bouncy “Woodcutter” will surely make you move. The bluesy tones are prominent and display some interesting and electrifying guitar leads also. The band has such a magnificent sound! The guitar tones, growling bass, and exceptional drumming, are plentiful on this release. “Holy Ground” starts fairly mellow and then kicks into a righteous Sabbath influenced rhythmic chugging. They are not afraid to push their sound. “Wolfhound” encapsulates a band that is confident, established, and free of any rigidity in their style. “Bos Primigenius” is a total banger! Massive riffs and hooks that take over your life. I wasn’t expecting this band to be this good and I’m sorry that I didn’t hear this in time for my favorites of the second quarter of 2026.

The final track on Eerie Meadows is called “Meleora”. Starting with the drums as everything connects, the song is a great capper to an excellent recording. Each musician nails their respective parts and collectively spark such a spellbinding execution of modern day hard rock. Green Desert Water has been honing their craft since 2012 and the results truly speak for themselves. Eerie Meadows grows on you and has a captivating effect over your senses. In a time when hard rock music was so authentic, impactful, and beautiful, Green Desert Water understands and delivers on this sonic adventure. In a vast sea of many heavy rock bands forming and emerging, it’s refreshing to hear a band like Green Desert Water displaying a sound that is so impactful. This is a band that understands musical dynamics and has a passion and sensation for emotive hard driven rock.
