Mörkekraft – Fragments

Mörkekraft is a new stoner rock/ heavy psych trio from Farsund, Norway. They consist of Tommy Jansen Loennechen on vocals and guitar, Böne Syrdal on drums, and Roger Henriksen on bass and vocals. The band just released their debut full length album called Fragments on May 8th 2026 on both Octopus Rising and Argonauta Records.  It contains eight tracks at thirty eight minutes long.

“Follow The Spiders” kicks things off with a solid uptempo hard rocker, full of fuzzy riffs and soaring melodies. The catchy ensemble of hard driven tones and powerful vocals are fantastic! Right out of the gate, Mörkekraft displays an impressive lead off track that is tuneful and captivating. “Shine Your Light” continues on with the powerful drive with alluring grooves and catchy and high register vocals. The sound quality of this recording is superb and even the more mellow soundscapes like “Godspeed”, which has an alternative/ grunge appeal, can’t be denied. The almost ballad-esc song has a strong familiarity with its sound and structure.

The fourth track entitled “Virgil” has an atmospheric aura that starts  things off and continues with the high octane hard rock. The backing vocal harmonies are terrific, correlated perfectly with the bouncy rhythms and infectious choruses, like on “Soul Confusion”. The snappy grooves and melodies are spectacular on this song! “Kaleidoscope” and “Evil Eyes” are both great numbers, exhibiting a metallic crunch in the riffs and expressive vocals connecting everything together. Fragments is a full on hard rock record that also expresses some blues and heavy psych in the mix. Mörkekraft finish things off with “Ghosts”, another high energy song and remarkable closure to this exceptional debut.

Mörkekraft is another strong addition in the Norwegian heavy rock scene. They sound excellent and I definitely would not have guessed that this was their first album based on the high quality songwriting and music found on this fine release. Fragments is a strong contender for debut album of the year and Mörkekraft are a band to keep an eye on in the future.
