Okay You Win – End Of Days
Okay You Win is a stoner rock band from London, England. The quartet are influenced by desert rock, grunge, 90’s alternative rock, and NWOBHM. They consist of David Kirk on vocals, Ryan O’Hare on guitar, Rodrigo Barradas on bass, and Antonio Peci on drums. Formed in 2023, the band just released their debut full length album called End Of Days on June 26th 2026, on Blues Funeral Recordings. It contains eight tracks at fifty two minutes long.
Right out of the gate, Okay You Win crank out “Smoke”, an aggressive and powerful introduction to their crushing sound. The band has a thick layered fuzzed-out guitar tone and thunderous drums. The soaring vocals are excellent, and capture the feeling of the songs. The music explores heavy riff-centric stoner grooves and ethereal psychedelic melodies. The musical dynamics are amazing and the band has a Police-esc sound during the psychedelic part towards the end. The way the band plays on the transitions and totally annihilate when the riff kicks back in, is remarkable. “Beat Me Down” has a smooth and engaging flow that really connects. The vocals are commanding and powerful and the music is a riff driven doom machine.
“The Greatest Lie” is a captivating slow mover that is exceptional. The song begins a little laidback and builds into a massive cascade of heavy riff rock. “This Damn Place” is another colossal song with plenty of grooves and melody. The title track “End Of Days” is a banger! It kicks right in with an energetic jolt of rocking groove, laced with some bouncy rhythms. The lyrics depict current situations in turmoil and resonate with the rocking fury. “Red Flag” is another hard ripping rocker! It has a fresh nineties grungy hardcore drive with great sounding vocals.and guitar leads.
The seventh track, called “Ten Year Trip” is another magnificent song that really hits it hard on all cylinders. The music is driving heavy fuzz rock with powerful and majestic singing that makes everything sound amazing. It’s hard to believe that this is a new band because this is top quality desert rock at its finest. The last track, “Own It” has a strong and personal message for me and the song is just great! It has another strong vocal performance from David Kirk and the music strikes hard at all the right moments. Every track on End Of Days is wonderful! If I would have listened to this record sooner, then there is no doubt that it would have cracked my top ten of the second quarter. Okay You Win have released a potential debut album of the year with End Of Days, and that statement right there should be telling of how awesome this band and album is.
