I have heard the name, The Lords Of Altamont for a good number of years now but for whatever reason, I never listened to their music. The closest encounter was when last year’s Black Honey Cult (review here) album dropped. Front man Jake Cavaliere is the brainchild of that project and it was full of retro psychedelic garage rock. The Lords Of Altamont are a whole other beast, altogether.

Right out of the gate, The Lords Of Altamont brings a full on and catchy rocker called “Got A Hold On Me”. The excellent and punky track cranks from the start and never lets up until the abrupt ending. The tight musicianship is noticed immediately, as the band really jams out these songs with vigor and intensity. “What’s Your Bag” has a rebellious angst in the vocals, as the music has a marching drum beat, contrasting the messy guitars. The music does have a lot of depth and dynamics for the simple structures that are the foundation. The Lords Of Altamont sounds like a confident and powerful band that knows exactly who the hell they are.

“Devil Rides (DFFL)” is another banger! The hook-laden chorus and full on rocking musical drive is what this band is dishing out. The fun punk ethos of “Rusty Guns” with its hardcore rhythm and organ textured background is a pleasant listen. The music is elaborate in its execution and doesn’t sound as primitive as it maybe should. That’s one hundred percent credit to the musicians involved. The long standing existence of the band could also be a key contributor on how enthralling these songs are. Other notable tracks are the boogie rocking “Procession For A Gorehound”, the bass driven and excellent “Get Out Of My Head”, and the retro-punked up rocker, “Got You On The Run”. There’s plenty of punk fueled garage and psychedelic rock spewing from all of these ten amazing tracks.

“Disconnection” is another great punk inspired rock song that has a cool mid point of bass and drums grooving along with heavy organ accents and swirling heavy psych. “I Got Your Number” and the final track “Twisted Black” complete Forever Loaded with the same vitality as it started with. I really dig the high energy and animation that The Lords Of Altamont dish out on every single song. When I am feeling this record, then I am really vibing with what this band is creating.
