Radium Haze – Emission EP
Radium Haze is a stoner rock trio from Brooklyn, New York. Consisting of Ted Hampton on vocals and guitar, Larry Hundertmark on drums, and Sammy Astolfi on bass, the band released their debut EP called Emission on March 9th 2026. It contains five tracks at twenty three minutes long.
It’s great when you discover a band and they totally shock you with how awesome they sound. That was absolutely the case with Radium Haze! My friend Dan (from The Heavy Desert Podcast) sent me a recommendation to check out the Emission EP, as he frequently sends me many bands to listen to. Well, this one blew me away! The name and album cover are pretty typical with this genre, but I wasn’t expecting such a full and engaging sound, especially from a new band that I had never heard of before. These guys are terrific, both musically and vocally!
“Lament” kicks right in, vocals and all. The flowing rhythms of fuzzy tones and melodies are right there. The vocals have a soaring Soundgarden register and a more soothing delivery in all of its melodious forms. There’s a rocking grunge component and stomping metal grooves happening with the music and it’s just a delightful and catchy mix of everything good about heavy rock music. The second track “Death Knell” begins with a nice distorted bass intro into a crushing doom riff. The music spikes right up into a crunchy metallic rhythm with excellent vocals to accentuate. The almost thrashy guitars flow nicely into the powerful choruses. Midway through, the bass erupts into a heavy grooving riff that provides a nice musical bridge that scores back into the chorus.
“The Warning” is next and it has a mesmerizing flow and a haunting essence to the vocals. The riffs are solid with chugging grooves and accented lead parts on the end of the rhythms.Ted Hampton’s voice is really outstanding on all of these five tracks and musically, the band is stellar also. “B.S.S.” is another banger! The vocals are a little more aggressive but still melodious. The sound is great, with pounding fill drumming, excellent bass playing, and a great mix of fuzz and clean guitars. Bullshit Society is the message and Radium Haze are here to deliver it!
The fifth and final track on this excellent EP is called “Dark Age”. Once again, the band creates an interesting and atmospheric experience of sonic brilliance. It has tinges of progressive and noise rock and just hits you squarely in the face with the riff rocking fury. My only complaint about this album is that it is too short. Radium Haze are excellent and I can’t wait to hear more from them. I really hope people will take notice on this band because they deserve the recognition for this outstanding Emission EP.
