Holystone – Accepting Omega

Holystone is a heavy stoner/ psychedelic/ doom band from Brisbane, Australia. The recording ineup consists of Jonny Pickvance on drums, Jack Bratt on bass, Wolfe Peterson on guitar and vocals, and Madison Morris on vocals and extra bass. They released their debut album called East of the Sun, West of the Moon in 2024, and most recently, their latest sophomore album, entitled Accepting Omega. Accepting Omega was released on July 17th 2026 and contains nine tracks at forty minutes long.

Holystone has a heavy sound that encapsulates dark textures and monolithic riffs. Their Bandcamp page describes Accepting Omega as such: “HOLYSTONE’s second album Accepting Omega marks a new page with newest member Madi Morris sharing vocal duties, and darker and heavier evolution for the band sound, trading much of the psychedelic warmth of their debut for something far more unnerving and existential. The record follows eight standalone characters experiencing the end of the world under the influence of Omega – a young apocalyptic figure who appears as both guide and catalyst. Through fragmented perspectives of surrender, resistance and revelation, her seductive presence offers both solace and destruction.Exploring themes of anxiety, depression, existentialism, mortality and the collapse of the modern world, Accepting Omega was recorded with legendary producer Jack Endino in Seattle (playing through the guitar amp used by Kurt on Bleach amp) and Dave Catching at Rancho de la Luna.”

Accepting Omega is a fantastic recording through and through! Holystone crafted an expansive piece of musical art and went the extra mile to work with Jack Endino and Dave Catching too. The result is an exceptional release that sounds as good as the songs are written, boasting nine solid tracks of sonic excellence. “The Prophecy (Jaws of Victory)” starts off with a devastating doom riff that erupts into a fuzzed-out cycle of crushing stoner rhythms. The apocalyptic sounds and eerie structures are integrated with the massive, earth shattering riffs, and dual vocal séances. The song sets a dark and heavy tone for Accepting Omega, for which “Brave Design” further explores. The song begins with the drums and builds upon on it from there. Heavy raging riffs with noisy and atmospheric fillers, the blended vocal attack from Madison Morris and Wolfe Peterson operate cohesively throughout the whole record. The angular riffs and tonal effects are fierce at times but always striking. The third track, “Guided By Stones” has an expansive and dense array of sounds that explore some progressive and psychedelic elements too. Holystone are keen on mixing in ambience with their fuzzy tones and delivering them in a hypnotic and transcendental wave of musical declaration.

The fourth track called “Procession” is a hauntingly dark but memorable song. The rhythm has a Voivod-ian style percussive beating and other esoteric tones that make the song so appealing and interesting. The vocals are angelic, enchanting, and demonic- all in one, giving the song a strong and powerful presence and feel. “Sleepwalker” is a more direct rocker that has a discordant bass sound and bouncy rhythms. The vocals shift from operatic to emotionally expressed in this exhilarating score of stoner fury.

The next two tracks, “The Accomplice Pt.1 (The Offer)” and “The Accomplice Pt.II (Father’s Funeral)” are both fantastic! Part 1 is less than two minutes and pushes a more frantic pace that blends right into part 2. When this second movement begins, it commences a more mellow psychedelic experience that gradually gains momentum through the song’s pivotal and immersive resonance. The next track entitled, “Cavitation” has a slow and unhurried vibe that utilizes the dual harmonic vocals of Madi and Wolfe brilliantly. The mesmerizing essence of both voices coming together gives the song a warmth and depth that carries right into the finale, “The Oracle Speaks”. The richness of the tones and melodies coupled with the band’s musical craftsmanship is quite remarkable!

Holystone has gifted us listeners with a truly beautiful and unique interpretation of doom metal, stoner rock, and heavy psych. They have a stoner edge of hard rock and grunge twisted around a doom metal casing of heavy psych. Accepting Omega is a terrific representation of putting every ounce of creativity into a forty minute musical montage, and unleashing a dark and monolithic masterpiece in its wake.
