4 Excellent Bands I Found from Blogging: Blue Heron, Luna Sol, Psychlona, & Slomosa – Part 2

About a month ago, I posted part 1 of this series (check it out here). I am continuously discovering new bands and artists from doing this blog. I have never found so many new and unique bands in my life until I decided to do the Jam Yeti Music Blog. I am constantly searching for bands that I like and will only share reviews and write ups on such bands. Here are four more bands that I discovered within the last several months that have really inspired me to listen to all of their releases and dig in much deeper. I hope you enjoy!

Blue Heron, from Albuquerque, New Mexico is a very interesting band. I actually discovered them through High Desert Queen because they did a split release together, Turned To Stone: Chapter 8 the Wake EP. Both bands did three songs and Blue Heron sounded very cool. I proceeded to check out their debut, 2022’s Ephemeral. Blue Heron doesn’t sound like anyone else, which is a good thing! The band has components of many different musical styles molded into their own sound. Their latest album in particular, Everything Fades (review here) blends desert rock, doom, heavy metal, and psychedelia, with an originality sparked by vocalist Jadd Shickler. The album is currently available on Blues Funeral Recordings. The dense elements of the album continues to enhance my interest in the band. Blue Heron is an awesome band who ignite a part of my brain that wants to keep listening.

Luna Sol is another band that surprised me with how good they sound. The band totally slipped under my radar! David Angstrom from Hermano is the guitarist and vocalist for this power trio from Denver Colorado. Their latest album Vita Mors (review here), available now on Ripple Music, is a heavy blues rock masterpiece! Groove laden, riff-centric songs with wailing guitar leads and good, solid vocals. The band’s other two albums are excellent also, 2015’s Blood Moon and 2019’s Below The Deep. I’m glad I found this band and was happy to review their latest release.

Psychlona was a band that I discovered several months ago. I listened to their last three albums, 2018’s Mojo Rising, 2020’s  Venus Skytrip, and 2022’s Palo Verde a lot since then. This is one excellent band that seemed to progress on each album. From England, Psychlona play heavy riff rock with a psychedelic layer. Their latest album, Warped Vision (review here) is arguably their best one yet! It has a perfect balance of catchy stoner rock with spacy undertones. The song lengths are not overdone and the guitar leads are spectacular also!  I can see why this band is generating a huge buzz lately. Warped Vision is currently out on Magnetic Eye Records.

Finally, the fourth band to make this list is Norway’s Slomosa. I actually heard this band sometime last year with their excellent Self Titled debut, released in 2020. This band is on the brink of breaking into the mainstream, I believe. Their latest album Tundra Rock (review here) is a heavy rocker’s wet dream. Heavy and fuzzy groves with melody and dynamics galore. They have a QOTSA style similarity with their song hooks but sound very original in their own way. Tundra Rock, out now on MNRK Records, is an excellent release that will be on the top of a lot of year end lists.

There you have it! Four more excellent bands that have been on my playlist lately. Each of these bands offer a unique sound and creativity that I love to listen to. I encourage everyone to check them out and let me know what you think. What new bands have you discovered lately? Thanks again for reading and I look forward to hearing back from some of you.
